Day
1 ARRIVE CHENNAI (MADRAS)
Transfer to hotel. City tour of Madras visiting the remnants of the British
Colonial Raj, the tomb of St. Thomas, Guindy Snake Park etc. and the Siva Temple
at Mylkapore ;and the popular Marine Beach. Overnight.
Day 2 CHENNAI (MADRAS) /MAHABALIPURAM
This day visit the temple towns of Mahabalipuram (one the beach) and
Kanchipuram known for its exquisite silk sarees. Overnight at Mahabalipuram.
Day 3 MAHABALIPURAM/PONDICHERY
Depart for Pondichery, once a French settlement and now home to the
Aurobindo International Ashram and Auroville or the City of Dawn, an
international settlement where community living is the focus of life. Evening,
discover Pondichery, known for its leather items, recycled handmade paper
products and thriving candle industry.
Day 4 PONDICHERY/CHIDAMBARAM/THANJAVUR
Depart for Chidambaram, famous for its Temple dedicated to Lord Siva as the
great Cosmic Daner – Nataraja. Arrive Thanjavur by evening. Overnight.
Day 5 THANJAVUR
Was the capital of the Chola empire from the 10th to the 14th centuries.
Morning: visit the Bridadeeswarar Temple with its soaring tower over the inner
sanctum. On its dome rests a single block of round granite weighing 80 tons.
Afternoon : A city tour of Trichy – visit the famous Rock Fort temple dedicated
to Lord Vinayaka, the elephant headed God and afterwards, Srirangam which has
one of the largest temple in India dedicated to God Ranganatha Swamy built
between 14th and 17th centuries. Return to Thanjavur. Overnight.
Day 6 THANJAVUR/ MADURAI
Today’s
journey is to Madurai famous for its Goddess Meenakshi Temple. Afternoon : is
free. Visit to the temple to witness the famous night ceremony when the Temple
bronze of Lord Siva is carried to the bedchamber of Goddess Parvathy to the
accompaniment of religious prayer and music. Overnight.
Day 7 MADURAI/THEKKADY
A morning city tour of Madurai visiting the temple in the day time to view
the splendid architecture. Afternoon leave for Thekkady. Overnight.
Day 8 THEKKADY
Rise early this morning to visit the Sanctuary and enjoy the boat ride on
Lake Periyar viewing the game as they come to the shoes of the lake for
watering. Visit a tea plantation and shop for the spices. Afternoon is free for
relax. Overnight.
Day 9 THEKKADY/KUMARAKOM
Transfer to Hotel in Kumarakom. Evening enjoy a sunset cruise in a
traditional boat. Overnight.
Day 10 KUMARAKOM
An early morning visit to the bird sanctuary. After breakfast transfer to a
houseboat for a unique experience of cruising along the backwaters and spend the
night on board.
Day
11 KUMARAKOM/ALLEPEY/KOCHI
Disembark at Allepey and transfer to Kochi. Take a look at the historical
side of Kochi with visits to the Jewish Synagogue, the Dutch Palace, St. Francis
Church and the Chinese fishing nets that stand as historical landmarks at the
entrance to Kochi harbour. Evening enjoy a Kathakali show.
Day 12 KOCHI/ONWARD DESTINATION.
Transfer to international airport to connect flight for onward destination.
